How to Create a Traditional Textured Finish

Step 1

With your brush, start in the top corner and cut in a three-foot section of texture paint across the wall. Liberally reload the brush as necessary to achieve a 91 cm strip that is approximately 7.6 cm wide.

Step 2

When applying BEHR PREMIUM PLUS^® Texture Paint with a roller, roll the looped roller cover into the well of the paint tray. Do this several times to cover the entire surface of the roller cover with texture. Roll off excess texture onto the shallow end of the paint tray.

Perform this procedure several times to ensure the roller cover is entirely saturated with texture.

Step 3

When applying Texture Paint, you will need to re-load the roller more often than you would when applying traditional paint.

Step 4

Next, roll a "V" shape onto the surface in a 91 x 91 cm area.

Step 5

Start filling in the width of the "V" pattern from top to bottom. Be sure to roll over the cut in areas as well. Reload your roller as necessary to completely cover the area.

Step 6

Reload your roller as necessary to completely cover the area. Repeat the entire process until the entire surface is covered. If you would like to change the wall color, allow the texture paint to dry for 24-48 hours before applying a coat of paint.
