Amy is best described by her favorite statement, “All I want to do is geek out on paint all day!” She is genuinely passionate about paint, finds colours fascinating, and thrives on helping others with their paint projects, whether it’s a DIYer, a paint professional, a Home Depot associate, or a Behr teammate.

Amy’s introduction to the paint industry began during college in Vancouver, BC. To meet a work/study requirement, she worked as an apprentice at a local paint company, and then went on to work full time in the paint trades. After 12 years running a successful paint business in Houston, she moved to Austin, Texas in 2018 and joined the Behr family as a Hub Representative. Because of her industry experience and her ability to meet people where they’re at, she’s able to provide expert advice on the best products, techniques, and tools to ensure the best possible outcome on any given project.

Her favorite part of her job is training and educating others about paint. Here’s what her manager, Sarah Kaselnak, shared: “Amy has a knack for keeping people engaged and interested. Using analogies, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and applying her real-world experience, she helps people feel confident about their projects, no matter their experience level.”

Amy is a member of the inaugural DEI Council at Behr, and helped introduce Behr to their new philanthropy partner, the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce.

In her free time, Amy and her wife enjoy drives to the wine country in Fredericksburg, TX, and binge-watching TV shows. She avidly follows current events and the political climate. “I’ve studied political science and trends for years. And when my brain needs a break, I’m either at Q2 stadium cheering on the Austin FC soccer club or watching soccer on TV at home.”

“I love my team. They encourage me to learn more.”

Kathy first joined Behr in 2018 as a temporary employee for the People Services department while working toward her bachelor’s degree at Cal State Fullerton. By demonstrating a strong work ethic and an ability to pick up new skills quickly, she was soon given the opportunity to join Behr as a part-time team member.

In June 2021, Kathy became the first member of her family to receive a college degree! This was a huge family milestone, as both of her parents were born in Vietnam and immigrated to China before finally settling down in the United States. Neither of them had a high school diploma, nor a higher education.

With school behind her, Kathy accepted a full-time role offering a wide variety of responsibilities in areas such as compliance, talent acquisition, benefits, and data auditing. Her innate curiosity and drive to learn new things have helped her continue to expand her role and take on new assignments.

When asked about the Behr culture, Kathy says, “I love my team. They encourage me to learn more. If I have too much on my plate, they offer to help. I feel that’s rare for a lot of companies. I honestly could not think of a better company to start off at or work for.”

During the pandemic, Kathy took up fitness classes, and her favorites are cycling and dance classes. "They are great stress relievers and help me stay in the moment." She also loves spending time with her family, enjoying family dinners with her 13 family members. Her dad, who was a professional chef for nearly three decades, takes pride in making every dish himself.

“I am constantly learning!”

Andrew’s first introduction to Behr Paint Company was as a college intern. After graduation, he joined Behr full time as a Demand Planner with the Supply Chain team. When asked why he chose to launch his career at Behr, he shared, “I enjoyed the people I worked with and appreciated everyone's team-first mindset. Everyone is focused on getting better, and always willing to help and listen, no matter how busy they are. And the ‘Open Door Policy’ is absolutely a real thing.”

Since then, Andrew has been promoted twice: first to Demand Planner Supervisor, and currently, as a Demand Planner Manager. He’s most proud of his ability to teach and coach different team members, especially his direct reports. Andrew finds it rewarding to teach something new, and then see his team member put those skills to work to drive results for the company.

Andrew is driven by his interest to constantly learn—in his role and at Behr. “I get motivated and excited to log online every day because I am confident that I will learn something new. I’m also motivated by trying to improve every day. Behr has a big focus on continuous improvement, so I do my best to keep this mindsettop of mind every day.”

Andrew credits his boss, Ryan Christensen, for serving as a great mentor and coach. He appreciates how Ryan always puts his people first, and explains how Andrew’s role within the company impacts the entire business.

Born and raised in Southern California, Andrew is often found playing on the golf course on weekends and on his days off. In his workspace, you’ll see posters of two renowned golf courses he’s played at—Torrey Pines and Whistling Straits. He’s also a big sports fan, and loves spending time with his family rooting for the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and the LA Angels.

“No challenge is too big or too small.”

Virginia Sanchez Virginia Sanchez

Virginia’s career began with a five-year enlistment in the US Army. After working in the civil service and as a business consultant for a global IT company, she joined Behr. No matter where she’s worked, she’s applied the valuable lessons learned during her military service—to be accountable as a leader for everything her team does or fails to do, and to have a continuous improvement mindset. “I always take time to reflect and ask myself, ‘What lessons did I learn? What could I have done better?’”

Virginia was the first person hired in Behr’s IT department as a certified Project Management Professional. Her success in managing complex IT projects with multiple business teams led to a promotion with the responsibility to establish and manage a new IT- PMO at Behr. As an IT Director, she currently leads a team of 20. The favorite part of her role is working with various business teams to deliver new applications or implement new technologies. "I have a front row seat on the new capabilities that help drive the company’s strategies."

At Behr, Virginia feels like she has found a home that enables her to grow. She enjoys the camaraderie and the many connections she has built throughout the organization. Her manager, Jim Crogan, says, “Virginia is an all-star in her position and ready to play in any position I put her in. She’s always up for the challenge, and no challenge is too big or too small. She cares about people tremendously and is there for the team, helping them build their capabilities and bringing out the best in them.”

Virginia is a life-long learner and adventurous too. Six years ago, she completed a master’s degree in business administration. To celebrate her accomplishment, she went skydiving with her graduating class.

Now that indoor activities can be more safely conducted, Virginia has taken on a new activity: circuit training for boxing classes. She’s having fun with this challenge and has set a goal of taking three classes a week. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and children, watching movies, or flying to another city for the weekend to watch a professional football game.
